How do you know?

I was scolded by my manager, who finished with the cliche, "we are open to suggestions for improvements"

It's not about better or worse. I think it's important to understand the actual situation first so that we may argue the on the issue at hand. Embargo and blockade are at different levels of escalation. Now we can discuss that the embargo and advocate for de-escalation

I like taking a break personally; but a foot massager at the loo, I'd pay for that

Precise writing is good, simple writing is better. Writing is a tool of communication, it is also an art. Art can be open to interpretation, documentation should not be open to interpretation. As a tool writing can be boring and repetitive to reduce alternate interpretations, this may result in being less precise with words and reinforcing a concept with simpler repetitive sentences

this comment is very pedantic

There are many objections that could be raised to both my tone and content there but I don't think "pedantic" is one of them.

It's certainly mocking. The subject matter is overly political. It's even plausible that it strays across the line laid down by the HN guidelines, although personally I think it's acceptable given the context. Something about fighting fire with fire.

Does everyone with the same name get an equal claim?

I don’t know if you’ll see this after a week, but my thought experiment was something like “what if HN took my username and gave it to someone else”? It wouldn’t just be handing off my username, it would be handing off an implied identity, even if they deleted comment history and such.

I’m not sure what the appropriate outcome is but I think it’s fair to say that it’s not straightforward.

If I were to bet, even with no information. I would wager that the private company is more capital efficient than the government ran one

Maybe go read the report on Starliner before making that call? Boeing is a private company too and no one is this deferential about it.

But their mistakes on Starliner have cost them billions whereas the mistakes on SLS has cost the taxpayers billions.

That is a very uncharitable take. Faith is often a source of meaning or purpose independent of intelligence. I would recommend "A Confession by Tolstoy" for a different perspective

Sounds farfetched. Especially if restriction is on candy and sodas

As others have pointed out, that's not what the restriction seems to be limited to. The distinction isn't based on sugar content but the amount of "processing", which rules out quite a lot of things beyond just candy and soda.

Still no high-speed rail in the US

Look into Brightline. They are already operating in Florida and are currently building a route from CA to Vegas.
