Happy to see they mentioned their API usage won't change. Last year I was working on a small project (https://listeningfacts.com) around spotify's API but they decided to suddenly restrict access to it.

I was able to make it work with last.fm's API with no issue and they're more generous with the information they provide.

I've had the same experience. Spotify abruptly deprecated their recommendations API endpoint (https://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-for-Developers/spot...). I recently switched to last.fm and am able to generate recommendations via their API just fine and without being a pro subscriber.

I also had the delight of finding my streams from 2008 still in my history after not logging in for several years.

I've been working on Listening Facts[0] for a while now. Basically, it's a year in review of your listening facts presented in a "nutrition facts" label format. It works with Apple Music, Spotify (via waitlist due to recent API changes[1]), and LastFM.

I'm currently working on language detection to expand the "facts" with a language distribution on each generated label.

I tried getting Adsense on the website but I keep getting denied on "Low Content Value" grounds. I tried some alternatives but the quality of their ads was ridiculous (stuff like "your device has a virus, click here to clean it up") so I just gave up on that.

Here[2] you can find what one of the labels looks like and many more from some user submissions

I'm working on Listening Facts[0], a music habits visualization tool based on your top tracks. Inspired by Receiptify and every day nutrition facts labels[1].

It started out as a Spotify oriented project but due to their recent API changes[2] I ended up focusing more on a Last FM integration. This wasn't that bad as their API provides more details such as play count per song. I've also added an Apple Music integration.

I posted about it[3] on Last FM's subreddit and I was pleasantly surprised to see that a lot of people shared their labels on the comments and seemed to like it.

I'm currently working on language detection, I think it'd be cool to get a language breakdown of the songs you listen to and for that to be part of the displayed items within the label. Something along the lines of EN- 80%, ES- 15%, FR - 5%

I'm still using last.fm and this is great! Thank you for this.

Thank you for giving it a try!
