You may be confused, but the owner of a vehicle is not necessarily the same as the driver of a vehicle. Recording a vehicle's license plate does not necessarily identify the driver unless they also happen to be the owner. (c.f. vehicle hiring companies)

I'm not convinced by some of those. I'm a pescetarian, so I still eat cheese, but I enjoy unusual foods.

I don't find tahini to taste anything like yeast/cheese, though to be fair I mainly use tahini in hummus.

I'm not familiar with lactic acid fermented Tofu - does that go by a different name?

Tempeh seems more nutty than cheese-like to me, though I rarely eat it as my wife doesn't like the flavour or texture of it.

Personally, I'd recommend Japanese Natto if you're after a cheesy flavour - it's soy beans fermented in straw/hay and ends up becoming somewhat slimy/stringy, so it's a bit of an acquired taste.

> Natto Any advice to try it? I haven’t had the courage yet but I guess it's time to face my fears.

> lactic acid fermented Tofu The english name of the one I buy is "Lactofermented Tofu" [0], although their ingredients [1] lacks a coagulant but have ferment instead: I guess the tonyu+ferment produce lactic acid, which then coagulate the fermented tonyu into tofu. I wonder if that make a big difference with classic recipes that ferment the tofu directly [2].

> Tempeh It's a fresh product and the taste really differ depending on:

- Ripeness. It can be ripped a few days to build an intense flavor when homemade or bought fresh.

- Ingredients. Same fungus (Rhizopus oligosporus) can be used to ferment others legumes/grains. I once made black-lentil-tempeh which had a very strong gorgonzola flavor with a firm and non-fat texture.

Water isn't wet, but it does "wet" other things. Wetness is the degree to which a liquid contacts and adheres to a solid surface, so it's makes no sense to say that water is wet.

Receiving illegitimate DMCA notices is not the same as hosting criminal services.

How is it unauthorised if it's freely available via a search without having to bypass any login?

It'd be like putting up an advert and then trying to sue anyone who sees it.

Some crazy lawyer included my parents in a traffic death suit’s defendants while they were victims who had their car badly damaged when the reckless driver rammed into two cars (including my parents’) and two pedestrians. The question isn’t whether you’re at fault, it’s whether you want to risk getting a court summons.

I'm confused about what you're saying - are you saying that your parents risked getting a court summons though they weren't at fault?

Surely the entire point of the court system is to determine who, if anyone, is at fault.

They didn't get a court summons but the court did call and send the plaintiff's filing. They were clearly not in the wrong in that case but it was still a hassle and quite a confusion. The point is people can sue you even if it's BS and you still need to respond.

In this case leaving a paper trail of having accessed unauthorized confidential information looks a lot like being in the wrong, so the potential hassle is a lot higher. You can argue it's not unauthorized after all, and you'll likely win, but you may need to expand time and energy arguing in the first place. And it could be significant.

Edit: In addition, (a) accidentally opening a confidential document -> oops, close immediately; and (b) taking a screenshot could be different legally (NAL yada yada), doing the latter could make it a lot harder to defend yourself.

Determining who is at fault involves extreme annoyance and inconvenience for those who had fingers pointed at them, regardless of whether or not they were actually involved. If you involve yourself willingly, you're inviting that on yourself.

Meanwhile, I hope they get sent to prison for being so cavalier with other people's PII.

I really can't see how the US can fully reopen the strait without a major land invasion. They'd need to occupy pretty much all the coastal regions to be able to prevent drones (air and sea) being launched to attack ships trying to pass through. The thing is that ships are going to be vulnerable for all of their journey through the Strait, so it's not like the US can just defend one part. They could try using escort ships, but that'll work out very expensive as they'll be destroyed by cheap drones sooner or later.

Even if the US manages to occupy all the coastal areas, then those areas become the new targets rather than the ships, so it'll end up being extremely costly to the US in terms of people and resources.

It's such a huge strategic mistake to attack Iran just to keep Israel happy.

The former CENTCOM commander said that all you need to reopen the strait is fires and short raids, not occupying the territory.

I don't see how that happens. What's to stop Iranians placing more mines in the water or launching drones to attack oil tankers?

Did you read what I wrote? I already laid it out. The US degrades the mines, mine laying vessels, and so on. Then the risk is reduced to a level that's acceptable for commercial shipping. That level isn't zero, despite what people say online. If you want a historical case study, look at the 1980s.

You can drop a sea mine from literal speed boat. Just kick it into a water. Why would you want to use a slow purpose build mine layer for that?

Iran can fire drones from the interior that they store in underground caves until minutes before they fire them. Fires and short raids won’t accomplish shit.

The problem with billionaires is that they are able to hoard so much money by exploiting others. We would be much better off if billionaires weren't given so much advantage by Capitalism as those resources would be much more useful if distributed.

The biggest problem we currently have with billionaires is that they are now so rich that the world becomes like a game to them and some of them are deliberately pushing us to a dystopia where non-billionaires become functional slaves (c.f. Amazon workers).

I don't believe we've met, but I've long been convinced that governments should not be reliant on commercial software and proprietary formats and protocols. It just seems obvious that relying on Microsoft this and that is a blinkered, short-term view.
