I heard about the partnership when it happened and have been waiting for more news. I was very happy to hear it was finally coming to life at WWDC. I've actively avoided buying any smart home devices, so I could wait for Matter and have a single standard to work with in the ecosystem of my choice. All my stuff is Apple currently, but I like knowing that I could switch if I wanted to, without my whole home needing an upgrade.
I know some people who got into home automation early and I die a little inside when I seem them jumping between multiple apps to try and use it all.
